Swiftkey Keyboard Updated Cuts Price to Free, Adds More Themes and Other Improvements

Good news Android users, because one of the best keyboard apps available on Google Play is now free for all. SwiftKey announced today that its third-party Android keyboard, SwiftKey Keyboard, is getting a permanent price cut from $3.99 to free. Along with this price cut, SwiftKey is adding several new free and premium themes including a new theme called “Nickel,” a modernized version of SwiftKey’s default “Cobalt” theme.
The SwiftKey Store will be home to more than 30 themes for the third-party keyboard, with regular updates planned. And if you've previously paid for SwiftKey Keyboard, you’ll receive a “Premier Pack” of 10 themes that’s worth $4.99 for free of charge.
In addition to these new themes, this SwiftKey Keyboard update will bring the following features:
  • Emoji prediction: Will suggest emoji from a database of more than 800 options that are most often used with words and phrases. Emoji is only supported on devices running Android 4.1 or higher.
  • Number row: Optional number row for quick access to numerals.
  • Improved prediction engine: Includes better support for complex languages, multilingual support, enhanced capitalization and better overall learning.
  • New language support: Support for Belarusian, Mongolian, Tatar, Uzbek and Welsh added.
  • New and improved flow trails: Gesture-based input improved to provide better visibility and faster, more accurate typing.

SwiftKey Keyboard is often cited as one of the best third-party Android keyboards in Google Play, and today’s update will enable more folks to make it their main input method. This is great news for Android users, and it’s great to see SwiftKey reward their loyal users that’ve previously paid for the app with 10 free themes.
