Google Adds Hindi Language to Google Maps

Today Google India launched Maps in Hindi for the Indian users. According to the their post the new maps will be available on the Google Maps website and on the latest Google Maps for Android app (Android 4.3 and above).

“Next time you’re in Jaipur and looking to find your way to the Amer Fort or the City Palace Google Maps can lend a little help. Starting today, we’re launching Google Maps in Hindi, in the hope that we can provide more useful and comprehensive maps for Hindi-speakers in India,” Google India wrote in a blog post.
To view the Hindi language labels in Google Maps, you have to enable Hindi as your preferred language. Android users can simply select the Hindi option within the “Language and input” menu found in your phone’s Settings menu. The website users will have to go Google account settings and change the language or they can select the “Hindi” option at the bottom of the page on the Google.co.in.
As Google is using transliteration for showing Hindi labels, you might not always find the right Hindi words. The company has also revealed that it is working on bringing Hindi as the language option in voice-navigation but it will take sometime.
