Motorola Provides Details for Which Devices Will See Android 7.0 Nougat

The Moto phones have a long history of awful update support. Seeing a new version of Android on a Moto phone is almost rare. But today, Lenovo revealed a whole host of devices that will be getting the bump to Android 7.0 Nougat.

Here’s the full list of phones Lenovo says will be getting Android Nougat:

  • Moto G (4th Gen)
  • Moto G Plus (4th Gen)
  • Moto G Play (4th Gen)
  • Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen)
  • Moto X Style
  • Moto X Play
  • Moto X Force
  • Droid Turbo 2
  • Droid Maxx 2
  • Moto Z
  • Moto Z Droid
  • Moto Z Force Droid
  • Moto Z Play
  • Moto Z Play Droid
  • Nexus 6

Things seem to be looking up for Moto owners in this regard. Soon enough, they’ll be getting a fresh new version of Android on their phone. Moto X Pure Edition owners were feeling left in the dust, particularly because Lenovo has only rolled out a single update for the phone since February. It’s severely behind on security patches, let alone an all-new Android version.

But, things are looking up–Lenovo’s list shows the Moto X Pure Edition as one of the phones to get Android Nougat. They’re saying the update will be rolling out to the Moto Z and Moto G4 in Q4, but provided no concrete dates. There isn’t even a timeline for the other phones.

In other words, we’re going to be waiting a long time before we see the new Android version on many of these phones.
