[Leaked] Fitbit Versa 2 Will Have Amazon Alexa And OLED Screen

When the original Fitbit Versa was launched in early 2018, it became an instant success. A considerable 2 million units were shipped during the first two months and by the end of the year Fitbit was already catching up with Apple in terms of sales.

To help maintain the momentum, back in March the Versa Lite Edition was announced. Fitbit had high hopes for the latter but recently admitted it hasn’t met expectations. Now, to help save the day, it seems the company is preparing a Fitbit Versa 2 that’ll replace the original.

As indicated by leaked press renders courtesy of Evan Blass, the next-gen smartwatch will look pretty similar to the original. It features a square display that’s paired with slim bezels and an “aerospace-grade aluminum” casing. The physical button on the left side has also made the cut but, much like the Versa Lite Edition, the two keys that previously sat on the right have been ditched entirely.

Coupled with all of this is a redesigned back panel that gives the Fitbit Versa 2 a more rounded shape. There’s now a larger area of black glass which contains an updated ‘PurePulse’ heart rate monitor and branding around the edges. The latter reveals the presence of an AMOLED display – the original features an LCD panel – and water resistance of up to 50 meters. The smartwatch also looks set to support Fitbit Pay.
Although not yet confirmed, the Fitbit Versa 2 is expected to offer storage for 300+ songs, 24/7 Heart Rate capture support, and improved Activity & Sleep features.

The Fitbit Versa 2 will probably go on sale later this quarter. Pricing information hasn’t emerged yet.
