How To Get Android 8.0 Oreo On Your Galaxy S8 Right Now

Now you get get Android 8.0 Oreo on your Samsung Galaxy S8 right way. The beta program is only open to owners in the U.S., UK and South Korea at first, and in the U.S. it's only available if you have a T-Mobile, Sprint or U.S. unlocked version of the Galaxy S8 or S8+ (sorry, no Note 8 yet). Just like last year's beta the program has a limited number of slots — Samsung says it's only open to 10,000 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

Provided you meet that criteria, here's how you get into the beta program to check out Oreo and Samsung Experience 9.0 on your own phone:

  • Download the Samsung+ app from Google Play.
  • If you're outside the U.S., you'll need the Samsung Members app instead
  • Sign in with your Samsung Account and make sure the device is registered to your account.
  • Play the waiting game — the Samsung+ app will show a prompt on the main screen where you can enroll to participate.
  • Tap through and accept the terms of the beta program.
  • After successfully enrolling, go to Settings, Software update and Download updates manually to pull down the OTA.
