Verizon Pixel And Pixel XL Gets 7.1.2 Build as NHG47K With Bug Fixes

Earlier this week, Google released its Android 7.1.2 Nougat update for its Nexus and Pixel devices, including the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. Now, Verizon Wireless is rolling out its own Android 7.1.2 update for the Pixel phones, and it even has its own build number.

Verizon’s support pages for the Pixel and Pixel XL show that the build number for the new update is NHG47K. Earlier this week, Google posted that the Android 7.1.2 build numbers for those phones were N2G47E and N2G47J (the latter for the Deutsche Telekom versions of the phones). It would appear that Verizon is rolling out a slightly modified version of the Android 7.1.2 update to the Pixel and Pixel XL for its customers.

Google hasn’t posted factory images or OTA files for it yet, but it appears to be a Verizon-only update. A whole thread of users on reddit have seen it this morning.

According to Verizon’s changelog, there is actually some good stuff in the update, as you would expect from a quarterly maintenance release. And not that this is exclusive stuff to the Verizon unit – this should be general 7.1.2 improvements for all Pixel and Nexus devices:

  • Improvement: Better performance and connectivity for Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi
  • Improvement: Adds a new feature allowing you to back up and restore 1st-party apps such as Calendar™, Drive™ and Messenger
  • Improvement: Better Voice call performance
  • Improvement: Latest Android™ security patches
  • Bug fix: Certain HD Voice/Wi-Fi Calling options were missing after the phone’s software was updated
  • Bug fix: In rare cases the phone was not able to receive text messages
Head into Settings>About phone>System updates and let us know if you see it!
