Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Arrives with 4nm Power

Qualcomm is shaking up the mid-range smartphone market with the introduction of its latest 5G processor, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. This chip isn't just a minor iteration of last year's Gen 3—it's a massive overhaul built to deliver premium features and performance to more accessible devices.

The biggest story here is the move to an advanced 4nm process node, a first for the 6s series. This architectural upgrade is the engine behind some awe-inspiring numbers:

  • CPU Performance is 36% better
  • GPU Speed is 59% faster

The core configuration (SM6435) features a powerful octa-core setup, with four A720-based performance cores running up to 2.4 GHz and four A520-based efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz. Simply put, this chip is designed to feel significantly faster in daily use and gaming.

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 brings features that were once reserved for higher-tier chips:

  • Imaging: Capture massive 200 MP photos and record smooth 2K HDR video. The dual 12-bit ISPs enable advanced photography.
  • Gaming: Gamers get a boost with Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, including Variable Rate Shading and Game Quick Touch.
  • Display: The chip supports ultra-smooth FHD+ displays running at 144 Hz.
  • Connectivity: The integrated 5G modem handles both mmWave and sub-6 GHz, offering peak downloads up to 2.9 Gbps. It also features the latest Wi-Fi 6E standard.

Complementing these features are support for fast LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and Quick Charge 4+ technology. While Qualcomm hasn't named specific devices yet, we can expect brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, and Moto to be among the first to feature this impressive new mid-range powerhouse.
