Android One Phones Start Receiving Lollipop Update in India

Google has finally started rolling out the latest Android version, known as Android 5.0 Lollipop, for the low cost Android One smartphones.
This was announced by Caesar Sengupta, vice-president of product management at Google, who oversees product strategy for Android One and Google Chromebooks, who in a Google+ post said:

The update will be rolled out gradually so every week more Android One users will get the OTA update notification on their handset.
To those with  +Android One phones in India, here’s where we are with the over-the-air (OTA) update that will bring Android Lollipop to you soon. We’ve already started rolling out Lollipop to a small number of phones in India. This is a gradual process and so each week we’ll push the OTA update to more phones selected at random (pro-tip: connecting over WiFi will increase your odds). We thank you again for your patience, and please stay tuned for further updates.

Android One devices were launched by Google in India in association with various regional players like Micromax, Spice, and Karbonn to offers pure Android experience to people at cheaper price point.

Curiously, despite being Google products, the internet giant failed to release the latest Android update before Xolo or Motorola, both of which had already released the latest update for their cheaper devices. Xolo One was one of the first low cost smartphone to get the latest Android update followed by Motorola's Moto G.
